22, 2010 - Bayliner
Capri recovered in Maple Ridge based on checks of Stolen Boats
Canada
In early 2010 an unknown male brought a 1995 Bayliner Capri
into a mechanic in Maple Ridge for some engine work. Once the
work was complete, the mechanic made numerous attempts to track
down the male to retrieve the vessel. When the male did not
return for the vessel, the mechanic checked Stolen Boats Canada
and noted that the vessel had been stolen from a residence in
Maple Ridge in 2006. The Ridge Meadows RCMP and insurance company
are currently investigating the matter. Link

Police seek information on a possible missing person near Lion's
Gate Bridge
Vancouver Police Marine Unit members are investigating an incident
of a possible missing person. Investigators are requesting assistance
from mariners transiting the First Narrows or pedestrians on
the sea wall in the area of the Lions Gate Bridge south tower
that may have observed a person swimming to or climbing on the
south tower abutment on Sunday November 21st between 0600 hrs
and 1330 hrs. Please contact Constable

15, 2010 - Mastercraft
Prostar recovered in Abbottsford based on checks of Stolen Boats
Canada
On November 15th 2010, a male contacted staff at Chris Small
Marine Surveyors and advised that he had purchased a 1993 Mastercraft
Prostar from a male in late September. At the time the caller
had given the male a deposit but when the seller never returned
for the balance owing, the caller became suspicious and checked
the Stolen Boats Canada web page. The caller subsequently noted
that his new vessel was listed as being stolen from a residence
in Abbotsford days before he had purchased it. The vessel has
been seized and the incident is under investigation. Link

Avanti with Trailer stolen in Nanaimo
On November 5 2010 a 30' Bayliner Avanti on a 2000 EZ Hauler
trailer was stolen from Railway Ave in Nanaimo. The vessell

1, 2010 - Boston
Whaler stolen from Surrey is recovered in Mission
The 2002 Boston Whaler Ventura stolen from a residence in Surrey
BC in mid October has been recovered in Mission BC with trailer
and engine. Members of the RCMP Mission Detachment in conjunction
with Chris Small of Chris Small Marine Surveyors will be inspecting
the vessel for leads to a possible theft ring operating on the
lower mainland. The investigation is ongoing. |

31, 2010 - Yamaha
8hp engine recovered in Abbotsford
On October 31st 2010, a gentalman contacted Stolen Boats Canada
to report that he had purchased a 2007 Yamaha 8hp outboard
from Craig’s List. He subsequently checked the listing
for stolen engines on the Stolen Boats Canada web page and
to his horror realized he had spent $1100 on a stolen engine.
He immediately contacted the Abbotsford Police Department
to alert them to this fact. The engine had been stolen in
Abbotsford in April 2009. Monthly theft updates forwarded
by Cathee McLusky of Harlock Murray Underwriting to Stolen
Boats Canada and the honesty of the caller, made the recovery
possible. |

23, 2010 - Stolen
engine recovered with abandoned boat in Coquitlam
On October 23rd 2010, concerned boaters in the South Allouette
River contacted Stolen Boats Canada regarding a suspicious vessel
abandoned in the river. Cst Poitras of the Coquitlam RCMP Rural
Policing Unit was notified and immediately attended to the vessel.
Through his investigation, he determined that the Yamaha outboard
on the vessel, had been stolen from the Fraser River in Maple
Ridge during the month of October. The vessel that was stolen
with the engine is still at large . A vessel theft bulletin
will follow.

Larson recovered by West Kelowna RCMP
On October 18 2010, Constable Kent Hall of the West Kelowna
RCMP recovered a 2003 Larson adrift on Okanagan Lake. The vessel
had no documentation on board nor had it been reported missing.
A consorted effort by West Kelowna RCMP, Rayburn’s Marine
World, the Pleasure Craft Licensing enter in Fredericton New
Brunswick and the Vancouver Police Marine Unit, lead to the
identification of the vessel and the subsequent return to its
lawful owner. The investigation is ongoing. |

Requested - Abandoned Hourston found near Friday Harbour
On 2010 October 8th Bob Gough of the Office of Navigable Waters
-Transport Canada contacted Stolen Boats Canada regarding a
16’ Hourston that was abandoned on the beach in Friday
Harbour in the San Juan Islands, USA. The vessel is displaying
a Canadian Vessel License and is believed to be stolen from

Vancouver Police Marine Unit is looking for information to assist
in the identifying the owner of a 10’ Polaris inflatable
located in false creek on September 24, 2010. The vessel is
white with blue and pink bands and is powered by a 40 hp Nissan.
The vessel had three 10 litre gas cans aboard. Please contact

Doo Recovered in Maple Ridge identified as Coquitlam stolen
Lengthy follow up conducted by Constable Tony Eeftink of the
RCMP Ridge Meadows Detachment into the Bombardier Sea Doo recovered
from the Pitt River in August 2010, has resulted in the confirmation
that it had been stolen in 2002 from Coquitlam BC. The investigation
is ongoing. |

The Ladysmith Maritime Society located a 10’ AB Inflatable
with an aluminum bottom. Vessel is powered by a 9.9 hp Yamaha.
The engine serial number and the HIN for the vessel have been
removed. The vessel has limited sea growth or water staining
leading to the belief that vessel is a tender from a larger

4 , 2010 - Mastercraft
and trailer recovered in vehicle stop by Kelowna RCMP
In May 2010, this 2002 Mastercraft and trailer were stolen from
a residence in Abbotsford. On September 4th, Constable Boffy
of the RCMP Kelowna Detachment stopped a vehicle as a possible
impaired. As a result of Constable Boffy’s stop, the trailer
and vessel being towed by the possible impaired driver, were
identified as stolen from Abbotsford and subsequently seized.

call regarding the location of a possible stolen Alumaweld Talon
in Delta BC. The Delta Police Department was contacted and the

28, 2010 - Bayliner
Trophy Recovered by VPD in Fraser River
On August 28th members of the Vancouver Police Marine Unit were
patrolling the Fraser River near the Musqueum when they observed
a Bayliner Trophy aground in an adjacent slough. Their investigation
determined that the vessel had been stolen from Campbell River.
The vessel was seized and the investigation is ongoing. If you

27, 2010 - Stolen
Vessels recovered in Shuswap Lake
On August 27th Chris Marrie of Transport Canada Marine contacted
Stolen Boats Canada to advise that a Joint Force Operation checking
anglers and boating safety checks on Shuswap Lake between Transport
Canada, Department of Fisheries, Conservation and Protection
and the RCMP, had resulted in the recovery of two vessels. The
vessels were found aground on two different sand bars near Sicamous
Narrows. It was determined that the ignitions had been compromised
on both vessels. The boats were towed back to Sicamous for an
RCMP investigation. Both vessels were stolen from local marinas.

On August 2 a 1976 Jet Boat with trailer was stolen
from the Murrayville area of Langley. The vessel is dark purple
with white lightning bolts, and the trailer is black with a
diamond plate on the fenders and red LED strip tail lights.

has subsequently been identified as being stolen from a vessel
at berth at Quayside Marina in False Creek between June 30th

stolen from Pitt Meadows Paddling Club
Between June 30 and July 1, a 1995 Zodiac was stolen
from the Pitt Meadows Paddling Club. This vessel has approx
11 patches on the hull and custon aluminum braces on the floorboards.

Inflatable recovered by Delta Police after brief chase on Fraser
River
On June 29th, 2010 Delta Police Department members
with the assistance of Air 2, Richmond RCMP and the New Westminster
Police Marine Unit, recovered the Titan Inflatable after a brief
chase on the Fraser River. Police believe the vessel may have
been originally stolen from the Vancouver area prior to being
used for committing vessel break and enters in the Delta and

26, 2010 - Lost
Avon Inflatable Tender recovered - may have been used in vessel
break and enters
On 2010 June 23rd VPD Marine Unit was contacted
by the False Creek Harbour Master regarding a red inflatable
that had been left at the Fisherman’s Wharf. A subsequent
investigation determined that the vessel had been reported
lost on March 8th between Passage Island and Point Atkinson.
It is believe the vessel may have subsequently been used in
several vessel break and enters in the False Creek area. Anyone
who may have seen this vessel being operated after March 8th
is requested to contact the Vancouver Police Marine Unit. |

26, 2010 - Bayliner
285 recovered at Coal Harbour Marina - vessel previously stolen
twice
On 2010 June 26th Vancouver Police Marine Unit,
acting on information from staff at Coal Harbour Marina identified
a 28’ Bayliner Cierra as reported stolen from Port Moody
in 2008. Further inspection of the vessel by VPD members confirmed
beliefs that the vessel had originally been stolen from Crescent
Beach marina in 2007 when she was named “Coconut Grove”.

Club in Vancouver
Around June 14, 2010 a blue 1999 Current Designs
Solstice kayak was stolen from the Jericho Sailing Clun. This
model of kayak has a blue top and white hull, with a black front
hatch cover. Stowed inside the kayak was a portable kayak trolley.

Winns stolen from Vernon is recovered by Coquitlam RCMP
On May 24th members from the RCMP Coquitlam Detachment
Patrol Division attended to a report of a possible impaired
boater on the Fraser River. Members of the RCMP Coquitlam Rural
Section attended to assist. The investigation determined that
the vessel and trailer in question had been stolen in 2007 from
Vernon BC. The investigation is ongoing. Please contact Constable

vessel and boater in Florida
Information pertaining to a missing vessel and
its sole occupant is being requested.
The vessel, named Genesis, is a 1988 42' Heritage M/Y, document
#928845. Last seen at Nassau Harbour Club & Marina on 2010
May 19th. The vessel was fuelled that day and was destined for
Marathon, Florida. The vessel and the operator, Glenn Brandt
48, from Bradenton, Florida, have not been sighted or heard
from since 2010 May 19th. ANY information is appreciated.

Vessel Identified
On May 19th 2010, investigators from the Konstanz
Police in Germany contacted the VPD Marine Unit for assistance
in identifying a suspicious vessel enroute to Russia. A bulletin
requesting assistance was fanned out via Stolen Boats Canada,
and within hours, Vancouver marine surveyor, Philip Oldham contacted
police with information leading to the vessel’s identification.
As a result, an international investigation is ongoing between
German authorities, US Department of Homeland Security and the
Vancouver Police Marine Unit. Investigators on this file appreciate
all the assistance provided from the marine community in this
incident. |
